Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about turning your existing content into a live TV channel.

GETTING STARTED

Do I have to re-edit or reformat my videos for TV?

Not at all. Broadkast takes your existing high-quality video library and automatically builds it into a 24/7 linear broadcast. Keep creating for your audience — we handle all the technical work of getting you on the dial.

Do I need to upload new videos or manage a separate content library?

No. We sync directly with your existing video library to build your broadcast. If you have 4K source files you’d like us to use for the best picture quality, we can accept those too — but it’s not required. You keep focusing on your content; we handle the TV side.

Do I keep ownership of my content?

Completely. You retain full ownership of your IP at all times. By working with Broadkast, you’re simply granting us the right to broadcast your content — nothing more. Your creative and commercial rights stay with you.

Do I have to manage the broadcast schedule myself?

Only if you want to. Most creators use our Auto-Pilot playout, which syncs with your library and builds a seamless schedule automatically. If you have a series launch or special event you’d like in a prime-time slot, you can request that — but the day-to-day runs itself.

DISTRIBUTION & REACH

Where will my channel actually appear?

Your channel is distributed across the Broadkast ecosystem and listed in the electronic program guides (EPG) of over 100 TV operators worldwide — including Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels, Vizio WatchFree+, and a range of regional cable and IPTV providers.

Is my channel live or on-demand?

It’s a linear live channel — running 24/7, just like BBC or CNN. This always-on format is the fastest-growing segment in streaming (called FAST: Free Ad-Supported TV) because it removes the pressure of choosing what to watch. Viewers simply tune in and let it play.

Can I restrict which countries see my channel?

Yes. If you have brand deals, licensing agreements, or regional restrictions, we can geo-fence your distribution so your channel only appears on operators in the regions you choose.

CHANNEL & PROGRAM GUIDE

What is a channel number, and why does it matter?

In the TV world, your channel number (called an LCN — Logical Channel Number) is your permanent address on the dial. Instead of being buried in a search result, viewers simply type your number and find you — sitting right next to established networks. It’s the difference between being a web page and being a broadcaster.

What is the EPG, and why does it matter for discovery?

The EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is the on-screen TV grid viewers use to see what’s on now and what’s coming up next. Being listed in the EPG puts your channel in the main guide alongside major networks — making it easy for new viewers to find you while browsing, rather than only through search.

How are my videos organized as shows in the guide?

We can group your content by your existing playlists or by theme — for example, “The Morning Vlog Series” or “Best of Gaming.” In the EPG these appear as scheduled blocks, giving your channel a structured feel that encourages viewers to stay tuned for the next episode.

Do I have to write all the show descriptions for the guide?

No. We pull your existing titles and descriptions automatically to populate the EPG. Our AI also cleans up lengthy marketing copy — removing things like “follow us” calls-to-action — so what viewers see when they hit “Info” on their remote looks polished and professional.

Can viewers record or set reminders for my shows?

Yes. Because your channel is fully integrated into operator systems, viewers can use their DVR to record episodes or set reminders — just like they would for any other TV show.

Does my logo show up in the guide?

Absolutely. Your logo appears directly in the channel listing, so viewers see your brand every time they scroll through the guide — building recognition the same way any major network does.

ON AIR PRESENTATION

Will my channel look like real TV or just a playlist?

It will look like a premium broadcast network. Your channel includes professional on-air graphics: your logo watermark in the corner, “Coming Up Next” bumpers, and polished transitions between videos. Your library becomes a cinematic experience that holds its own next to major networks.

Will Broadkast change my content's look or style?

Never. Your brand’s personality is what gets people watching. We don’t touch your content — we give it a bigger stage. You keep full creative control, and your TV presence is a direct reflection of your existing identity.

Can I promote my social channels or store during the broadcast?

Yes, and we encourage it. We can add QR codes and “follow us” overlays during your broadcast, turning passive TV viewers into active community members across your YouTube, Instagram, or online store.

REVENUE

How does the revenue model work compared to YouTube AdSense?

Unlike YouTube’s fluctuating ad rates, your TV channel earns through premium TV ad slots (SSAI — Server-Side Ad Insertion). We manage the ad server and share revenue with you based on total viewing hours. It’s a stable, hands-off income stream that runs alongside your existing YouTube earnings — not instead of them.

Does having a TV channel help me land bigger sponsorships?

Yes. TV is still seen as a premium, brand-safe environment by advertisers. With a distributed channel across major operators, you can offer sponsors a multi-screen package — combining your existing audience with a presence in professional ad breaks on the big screen — which typically commands higher rates.

How does a channel number help with brand authority and press?

Being on the dial next to established names like BBC, Discovery, or MTV shifts how brands and press perceive you — from “web creator” to “televised broadcaster.” That distinction can open doors to higher-tier sponsorships and media opportunities that aren’t typically available to digital-only creators.

ANALYTICS

Can I see how many people are watching?

Yes. You get access to a live distribution dashboard that breaks down viewership by country, device, and average watch time — the same professional-grade metrics broadcasters use to track global reach.
